Marlene Carozzo Giancola
Miss Pennsylvania 1949 died on May 12, 2003 from uterine cancer at her home in Kennett Square, PA. She had remained active in the pageant throughout the years. She served as a preliminary pageant judge in Pennsylvania and Delaware and regularly attended the state pageants in both states. She was active in many civic associations, serving on a
board of directors for several of them.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Richard and two sons, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild, as well as three sisters.
The Miss America organization sends their condolences to her family and friends. She will be sorely missed.

Louise Cogdell George
Louise Cogdell George, mother of Phyllis George (Miss America 1971) died on May 26th at a retirement community in Dallas. Louise George graduated with honors from what is now called Texas Woman's University at the age of 18. She was a homemaker and also worked in the art department at the University of North Texas.
Phyllis George won the Miss America title in 1971. She went on to become the first female sportscaster on CBS' NFL Today show and was the first lady of Kentucky.
In addition to her daughter, Louise George is survived by son Rob George and five grandchildren.
The Miss America organization sends their condolences to Louise George's family and friends.
